End of the year gift

Dear Friends,

With the approach of a New Year the Officers of the Saint Gregory Society would like to extend their gratitude to you, our benefactors, for the generous gifts you made throughout this past year. Your financial and prayerful support has made it possible for the Society to continue the mission to support the local celebration of the Traditional Latin Mass, to keep alive the Church’s rich musical tradition, to establish the Saint Gregory Purgatorial Society, and to update our website, among many things.

As we near the end of the calendar year of 2015, may we ask for your continued support by considering a tax-deductible gift to the Saint Gregory Society today?

Becoming a member of the Society is a fitting way to support the Society. You may become a member of the Society by visiting our website: http://saint-gregory.org/membership/

Latin Mass offered on Christmas Day in New Haven

nativityThe Traditional Latin Mass will be offered at 2:00 p.m. on Christmas Day at Saint Stanislaus Church, New Haven. The Saint Gregory Schola will sing the Missa Cantata.

“Iesus Christus, Deus homo: Jesus Christ, God-man. This is one of “the mighty works of God,” which we should reflect upon and thank him for. He has come to bring “peace on earth to men of good Will,” to all men who want to unite their wills to the holy will of God — not just the rich, not just the poor, but everyone: all the brethren. We are all brothers in Jesus, children of God, brothers of Christ. His Mother is our mother” (St. Josemaria Escriva).

IC BVMThe Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, December 8th, is a holy day of obligation. The Traditional Latin Mass will be offered at St Stanislaus Church (New Haven) at 5:30 p.m.

First Friday Mass to be offered

Sacred HeartFriday, December 4th is the First Friday of the month. Our monthly Mass for the souls enrolled in the Purgatorial Society will be offered at 8:00 a.m.

Our Lord told in a vision Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque, in which she relates, that in reparation for the ingratitude of men, He be honored for His love under the emblem of His human heart. He made twelve specific promises of reward for such honor. In particular, “To those who will go to Communion on the First Friday of the month, during nine consecutive months, I promise the grace of final perseverance.”

Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque said, “The sacred heart of Christ is an inexhaustible fountain and its sole desire is to pour itself out into the hearts of the humble so as to free them and prepare them to lead lives according to his good pleasure.”

“From this divine heart three streams flow endlessly. The first is the stream of mercy for sinners; it pours into their hearts sentiments of contrition and repentance. The second is the stream of charity which helps all in need and especially aids those seeking perfection in order to find the means of surmounting their difficulties. From the third stream flow love and light for the benefit of his friends who have attained perfection; these he wishes to unit to himself so that they may share his knowledge and commandments and, in their individual ways, devote themselves wholly to advancing his glory.”

2015 Requiem Mass Offered

catafalque 2015
The members of the Saint Gregory Purgatorial Society were remembered at a Missa Cantata offered at 7:00 p.m. at Saint Stanislaus Church (New Haven) earlier this evening. Father John Pikulski prayed the prayers of the Requiem Mass with Saint Gregory Schola Cantorum singing the tradition chants.

May eternal light shine upon them, O Lord: With Thy saints forever, because Thou art merciful. Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. With thy saints forever, because Thou art merciful. (4 Esdras 2:35, 34)

Do Thou, we pray, O Lord, deliver the souls of Thy servants enrolled in the St Gregory Purgatorial Society from every bond of guilt, that in the glory of the resurrection, they may live again, raised up to the fellowship of Thy saints and the elect. Through Our Lord Jesus Christ, Thy Son, Who being God, lives and reigns with Thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost….
