Mass for the Immaculate Conception, December 8
Today, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is a Holy Day of Obligation. Low Mass will be offered at 5:30 p.m. at St Stanislaus Church, New Haven.
The infallibly defined dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Latin Catholic Church reveals to us that “God freely chose Mary from all eternity to be the Mother of his Son. In order to carry out her mission she herself was conceived immaculate. This means that, thanks to the grace of God and in anticipation of the merits of Jesus Christ, Mary was preserved from original sin from the first instant of her conception” (Compendium of the Catechism of the Catholic Church).
Mary is the “New Eve,” the Mother of God, Mother of us all. As such, we believe that Mary Immaculate is a type of the Church and the perfect model of holiness for all Christians.
Under the title is the Immaculate Conception she is the patroness of the United States of America. May she intercede for us before the Throne of Grace!
First Friday Mass for December
On December 4, the First Friday Mass will be offered at 8:00 a.m.
Those enrolled in the St Gregory Purgatory Society are remembered at the Mass.
Solemn Requiem Mass November 21
On Saturday, November 21, at 11:00 a.m. the Solemn High Purgatorial Mass will be offered at St. Stanislaus Church (New Haven). Prayers at the catafalque will be prayed.
Fr. Cipolla will be the celebrant and homilist and Fr. Turner will be the deacon.

Vatican extends November Plenary Indulgence for 2020
The Holy See has extended the availability of certain plenary indulgences for the souls in Purgatory, out of concern for the faithful during this time of pandemic.
According to a decree of 23 October, certain indulgenced acts, which can help to remit the temporal punishment due to sin for those who have died in a state of grace, can be obtained throughout the entire month of November 2020.
The decree was signed by Mauro Cardinal Piacenza, major penitentiary of the Apostolic Penitentiary.
A Plenary Indulgence, applicable to the Faithful Departed, may be gained, under the usual conditions of Confession, Holy Communion and prayer for the Holy Father’s intentions, by making a devout visit to a parish church or a cemetery throughout November this year.
